A Tribute to the Baja 1000 and other Endurance Events this weekend at the Orleans Arena.
Irvine, CA (November 14, 2011) – The Baja Designs night race is a must see and will again take place at this weekend’s GEICO AMA EnduroCross Finals, presented by Lucas Oil. The Baja 1000 and other desert races are best known for night racing with high performance lighting systems guiding the way. For this special event, the expert riders that just miss qualifying for the double main events from the Last Chance Qualifiers will be invited to mount up Baja Designs battery powered Diablo light kits and race with the Orleans Arena lights turned off. They will duke it out for the $500 winner take all prize.
The Las Vegas EnduroCross Finals will include a full night of racing. For the first time ever, the Expert riders will race two separate main events with full championship points and purse on the line. The Freegun Underwear Women’s invitational will also take place along with the AMA Grand Championship finals for the support classes for the TrialsCross, Open Amateur and Vets, which will attract a few big name riders that are over the age of 35. The support class riders have qualified from each of the six previous EnduroCross events for the opportunity to race for AMA Number One plates in Las Vegas so these will be the best of the best riders competing. Last year Jacob won this event in come from behind fashion, and if all fails to go as planned, and Jacob missed the main event, you will be sure to see him trying to repeat his 2010 win in hopes of taking the $500 prize. "This event was really fun. I wasnt going to race, but its your last hance to be out there in front of the crowd so I had Ed and Ryan bolt the light on to go for it. You just never know what is going to happen at Endurocross, and add to that the element of darkness, its just that much crazier! I won $500 last year, but you win way more then that by qualifying for a main... that is my goal this weekend!" Like all EnduroCross events, you can count on a lot of activity at the Orleans Arena all day on Saturday, November 19th. The pits are open free all day to meet the top riders and check out their bikes up close. The arena is also open for free during the daytime qualifiers that start on Saturday morning as well as for the Expert practice and Hot Laps that take place during the midafternoon.
Come on out and support Jacob and the rest of Team Green at the final round of the 2011 Endurocross Series. We will be in the pits signing autographs from about 1-2, so come out down and take a photo with Jacob and his 2011 District 37 Championship winning KX450! Tickets are available at http://www.orleansarena.com/event-calendar/endurocross and www.EnduroCross.com.
