Argubright Beats Childhood Hero @ Ruts Desert Scramble

For most all off road racing enthusiasts, Kurt Casselli has been a name that many only dream to meat. “Three years ago I remember meeting Kurt at a hill climb competition. I was almost scared to talk to him as he was one of the best racers on the planet.” For Argubright, his dream of racing with Casselli would come true, and on this day it would go one step further.

After taking the overall victory on Saturday, Jacob prepped for another day of racing amidst rumors that Special K would be attending. Despite all of the gossip around the camp sites, Jacob went through his usual routine and even found time to watch the movie of the days racing.

On Sunday morning as Kurt passed by the truck, Jacob waved and knew that it was time to work. After grabbing the holeshot just past the bomb, Argubright was off and did want to loop back. Three laps of wide open desert racing meant that Jake would need to stop for gas, but not even that could keep him from falling victim to Kurt Casselli. Onboard a factory prepped 250cc fourstroke KTM, Kurt was never able to make a pass stick, and Jacob got yet another victory.

"I can’t even describe how I feel. I knew that I could keep up with Kurt, but this just is something I never knew I could do. I kept waiting for him to come, but I never heard his bike. When they told me to gas, I figured that I had some kind of a lead. Next time Kurt and I race, we made an agreement to slow down a bit!”

Two open class wins places Argubright into the first overall points position for the 2009 District 37 Open Championship.
