Jacob_pipesThis last weekend I raced the inaugural Prairie Dogs Last Dog Standing event at Glen Helen, and unlike my experience at last man, I physically finished both motos!

It was a pretty cool deal. I got to race a short course grand prix in the morning, then have two other one lap races each about 8 miles long. Going into the day I knew that it would be difficult. Kyle Redmond and I had done some practicing earlier in the week, and basically tried to climb anything that we thought we couldn’t make it up. Most of it we did, but a couple of the hills took a few tries.

This last weekend my family and I headed up to Taft for Round One of the Big 6 Grand Prix Series.  I am going to miss most of these rounds this year, so it was really just more for fun but it ended up being a great weekend!

As the season ended last year,  I sat on the hillside watching the competition go by and my chance of a number one plate just slipping away. With a hole in my case and no oil I realized how quickly things can go from good to bad.  So for 2011 I have completely changed the game plan!

Things have been different since that 100’s race back in October, and now more than ever I have a serious goal and plan to get myself there. I want to get as many number one plates as possible this year, and I am going to do it starting right away. The more I can win early on in the year, the less I have to worry at the end of the season!

Jackrabbits was first on the list for me, and it was one of the more important races as far as the season is concerned.  For the last two years I have finished second overall, and literally been within inches of winning both times. Last year I just didn’t have the speed that Quinn and his 450 had, and the following weekend a gearing change made all of the difference.  This year, that wasn’t going to happen! The bike that Ed and My dad have built is, in my opinion, one of the strongest out there.  I am confident that it will be able to run with Kendall and Kurt this year, and the out pouring of products from the sponsors this year means that our equipment will be top notch every weekend, and that is what it takes to win.

This last weekend my family and I took a trip North into Nevada for one of my favorite rides of the year, The Searchlight Grand Prix. The race is hosted by the Canepa family, and since there is no series or anything associated with it, it is just one of those fun events that I have looked forward to all year.  This year we were bringing a couple people for the first time, and I was really excited about both the Pro and Team races on Saturday afternoon.
